We welcome you to come as you are — newbie/advanced, introvert/extrovert, grumpy/happy, tired/energized, neurodivergent/typical, talkative/quiet. We’ll provide examples, gentle guidance, and a few supplies to get you started. We encourage you to bring materials from home to use or share for the day at the community resources table! Suggested items include: Old clothes to mend Thread + needles Stitching thread Felting materials Fabric Buttons Sewing machine What to expect during this casual community art hangout: ? 4pm—5pm: Early Bird Community Set-up! Feel free to arrive at your convenience. We’ll be putting out supplies, setting up tables, and art’ing together as people show up. ? 5pm-7:30pm: Casual Art Hangout Let the creativity begin! We’ll officially start the art hangout at 5am. Connect with others (or enjoy creative solitude) as you work. ? 7:30-8pm: Community Clean-up! Return supplies and pick up your personal space. If your schedule and physical ability permit, volunteer to help put away tables, chairs, and community supplies! Taking time from your busy schedule to create art is *NOT* selfish. It gives you a way to hold what’s hard and make space for processing difficult times. There’s something quietly powerful about taking time to be creative when life feels uncertain.
